Prayer: Writ petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, to issue a Writ of Mandamus, to direct the first respondent to order the third respondent to convene a special Grama Sabha meeting in terms of G.O.Ms.No.150, Rural Development (C-1) Department, dated 17.07.1998 in the third respondent Village Panchayat, by considering the representation of the petitioner dated 02.10.2021 within a period that may be stipulated by this Court.

O R D E R

The petitioner represents the 5th ward in the third respondent Village Panchayat. His grievance is that the President is not convening Grama Sabha meetings. The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner draws my attention to G.O.Ms.No.65 Rural Development and Panchayat Department dated 24.05.2022 whereby it has been mandated that a Panchayat President must convene Grama Sabha meetings at least on six occasions. In fact more number of meetings can also be conducted.

2. Therefore, the third respondent is obliged to convene Grama Sabha meetings on the dates mentioned in the aforesaid Government Order. The third respondent is accordingly directed to convene Grama Sabha meetings in 2/4
