O R D E R

[Order of the Court was made by A.D.JAGADISH CHANDIRA, J.] This Habeas Corpus Petition is filed to direct the respondents to produce the person or body of the detenue Mena (step mother of the petitioner) wife of Rajendran aged about 27 years, before this Court and set her at liberty.

The learned counsel for the petitioner would submit that the detenue Meena is the second wife of the petitioner's father. After the demise of the petitioner's father, the detenue and the petitioner were residing in the same house. While so, the detenue was found missing from 26.06.2025 and her whereabouts are not known. Despite the complaint given to the 2nd respondent/Police on the same day, no action was taken to trace the missing person. Hence, this petition. 3.

Today, when the matter is taken up for hearing, the learned Additional Public Prosecutor submitted that based on the complaint given by the petitioner, a case in Crime No.320 of 2025 has been registered for 'woman missing'. During the investigation, it was found Page No.2 of 4

that the missing person is located along with one Amaran who got introduced to her over social media and that they are in Ariyalur area. The respondents are taking steps to find out the exact location and as and when she is traced, it would be informed to the petitioner. A status report is also filed by the 2nd respondent to that effect. 4.

Recording the above submission and the status report, this Habeas Corpus Petition is closed with a direction to the respondent/Police to proceed further with the investigation and the concerned jurisdictional Deputy Superintendent of Police is directed to monitor the investigation.
