JUDGMENT

(By G.R.SWAMINATHAN, J.) Heard both sides.

2.The appellant herein filed W.P.(MD)No.1397 of 2025 seeking appointment on compassionate grounds. According to the appellant, his father / Govindaraj served the respondent / local body as Overhead Tank Operator for twenty years and that he died while in harness on 07.12.2024. The learned Single Judge vide order dated 03.06.2025 dismissed the writ petition in the following terms:- "4.The learned Special Government Pleader, on instructions, submitted that with regard to the claim for compassionate appointment, the petitioner is not eligible, as his father was serving on a consolidated pay basis and not in a regular post.

5.In view of the submission made by the learned Special Government Pleader that the petitioner-s father was serving only on a consolidated pay basis and not in a regular post, the petitioner is not eligible for compassionate appointment. Accordingly, this Writ Petition stands disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs."

Aggrieved by the same, this writ appeal has been filed. 3.It is not the case of the appellant that his father was regularly appointed. When he was serving only on consolidated pay basis and not in a regular post, the question of granting appointment on compassionate grounds does not arise at all. The approach adopted by the learned Single Judge cannot be faulted. The writ appeal stands dismissed. No costs. (G.R.S. J.,) & (K.R.S.
