ORDER

The petitioner, who is aged about 80 years, has filed an application. under the provisions of the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, before the respondents 1 and 2 seeking to cancel the settlement deed dated 21.07.20211, which was executed in favour of her grandson. Since the said representation has not been considered, the present writ petition has been filed.

Mr.M.Sarangan, learned Additional Government Pleader, on instructions, submits that on receipt of the petitioner's application, the second respondent, by his proceedings dated 14.12.2022, has forwarded the same to the 3rd respondent, namely, the District Social Welfare Officer, Ramanathapuram, who is a conciliation officer appointed under Section 9 of the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act. As and when the conciliation report is 2/4

received, the petitioner's application would be decided as expeditiously as possible.

3. In view of the said submission, this writ petition is disposed of. In the event the conciliation could not be effected, the respondents 1 and 2 shall proceed with the petitioner's application and take a decision in accordance with law, within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. No costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed.
