Respondents PRAYER: Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, to issue a writ of mandamus direct the 1st and 4th respondents to increase and award adequate compensation to the victims who died and injured by the police firing incident at Thoothukudi on 22.05.2018 upon the unarmed general public participated in the rally and further direct the respondents 1 to 4 to review the system of District Administration under the Head of District Collector and synthesis and rejuvenate the institution of Collectorship in the district, in view of redressing grievance of the general public immediately. [Order of the Court was made by R.MAHADEVAN, J.] The prayer in this writ petition is for issuance of a writ of mandamus directing the respondents 1 and 4 to increase and award adequate compensation to the victims, who died and sustained injured by the police

firing incident that took place on 22.05.2018 at Thoothukudi upon the unarmed general public participated in the rally and to direct the respondents 1 to 4 to review the system of District Administration under the Head of the District Collector for redressing the grievance of the general public immediately.

2. The learned Government Pleader appearing for the respondents 1 to 4 submitted that as the Enquiry Commission itself has submitted its report on 18.05.2022 to the Government, no further adjudication is required in respect of the grounds raised in this writ petition.
