The petitioner/defacto complainant in Crime No.196 of 2025 has filed this petition, seeking a direction to the respondent police to conclude the investigation within is stipulated time. 2.The learned counsel for the petitioner submits that though the case was registered on 09.04.2025, they have not taken any effective steps to investigate the matter.
3.Mr.P.Kottaichamy, learned Government Advocate (Crl.side), who takes notice for the respondents 1 & 2 submits that the case in Crime No.196 of 2025 was registered only on 09.04.2025, they have examined four witnesses so far and the investigation is under process. He further submits that the first accused in this case has filed an application, seeking anticipatory bail before this Court and the same is pending in Crl.OP(MD) No.8983 of 2025.

4.This Court considered the rival submissions made and also perused the materials placed on record.
5.The case has been registered on 09.04.2025. The respondent police claims that they have examined four witnesses so far and the investigation is in progress. This Court is of the view that the investigation agency is expected to give priority to the old cases also. In view of the above, this Court is not inclined to issue any direction to the respondent police. However, the respondent police shall try to complete the investigation in Crime No.196 of 2025 as expeditiously as possible. 6.With the above observation, this Criminal Original Petition is closed.
