ORDER

The petitioner with an allegation that the respondent police is harassing him under the guise of an enquiry has approached this Court. 2.The learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the official respondents submits that the third respondent, who is the wife of the petitioner, has lodged a complaint as against the petitioner and other in-laws and the same was referred to the Social Welfare Officer. Further, he submits that as on date they have not registered any case and they are not harassing the petitioner.

3.Since it is reported that the complaint of the third respondent has been referred to the Social Welfare Officer, this writ petition is allowed with a direction to the respondent Police not to harass the 2/4

petitioner for a period of three weeks enabling him to appear before the Social Welfare Officer. The petitioner is directed to co-operate before the Social Welfare Officer. In the event, if the complaint of the third respondent constitutes any cognizable offence, the respondent Police is at liberty to register a case and the petitioner has to workout his remedy in the manner known to law.
