Prayer: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying this Court to issue a Writ of Mandamus, to direct the respondents 1 and 2 to change the EB connection SC No.05-137-00651 into petitioner's name i.e.Balamurugan S/o.Rajamanickam on the basis of representation dated 26.06.2025 within the time stipulated by this Court. ORDER
This writ petition has been for a writ of Mandamus to direct the respondents 1 and 2 to change the EB connection SC No.05-137-00651 into petitioner's name by considering his representation dated 26.06.2025.
2. The case of the petitioner is that the petitioner's grandfather, late.Ponniah, was the owner of the land and he died on 29.04.2006. It is submitted that after the death of the petitioner's grandfather, the land was transferred in the names of the petitioner's mother, Valliammal and one Amaravathi and Thirumurugan and not in the name of the petitioner's uncle, fifth respondent herein. It is submitted that the electricity connection which 2/5
stood in the name of the petitioner's grandfather has been transferred in the name of the fifth respondent, although, the patta stands in the name of the petitioner's mother, Valliammal, and others namely, Amaravathi, Thirumurugan.
3. The learned Standing Counsel for the respondents 1 and 2 submits that the competent authority to consider the petitioner's representation is the Assistant Executive Engineer, Kappaloor, Thirumangalam, Madurai.
4. Since the electricity connection has been transferred in the name of the fifth respondent, the Assistant Executive Engineer, Kappaloor, Thirumangalam, Madurai is directed to consider and dispose of the petitioner's representation dated 26.06.2025 after due notice to the private respondents herein and the said Thirumurugan within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
