O R D E R

This writ petition has been filed for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, forbearing the respondents 1 to 3 from granting permission to conduct 'Puravi Eduppu' Festival scheduled to be held on 16.09.2022 and 17.09.2022 at Sri. Adhinamilagi Ayyanar Temple situated at Iluppakudi Village, Sivagangai Taluk and District, without the participation of the petitioner and other members of the petitioner's community.

2. A Peace Committee Meeting was held on 15.09.2022, for conducting 'Puravi Eduppu' Festival in Sri. Adhinamilagi Ayyanar Temple situated at Iluppakudi Village, Sivagangai Taluk and District and certain conditions imposed by the Tahsildar were accepted by the parties. This Court, by order dated 16.09.2022, directed the Tahsildar, Sivagangai to supervise the festival to be conducted by the villagers and necessary police protection to be given for preventing untoward incidents and if there is any untoward incident will take place, the Tahsildar will be held responsible for the same. All the persons irrespective of their caste to participate in the festival and peace to be maintained by the authorities concerned.

3. Today, the Inspector of Police (Law and Order), Sivagangai Town Police Station, Sivagangai District has filed a report stating that there was no first preference given to any person and all the persons irrespective of their caste has participated in the said festival and accordingly, the said festival was conducted peacefully without any law and order problems. The same is recorded. There was an allegation by the other side stating that there is a threat and misappropriation and if the same still proceeds, they can proceed as per the procedures established under law. This Writ Petition is disposed of accordingly. No costs. Consequently, the connected Miscellaneous Petition is closed.
