PRAYER (in both W.Ps): Writ Petitions filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for issuance of writ of mandamus forbearing the respondents from promoting the juniors of the petitioners in the cadre of Sub Inspector of Police (AR) to the post of Inspector of Police (AR) without including the petitioners' name in the panel of Sub Inspector of Police (AR) for promotion to the post of Inspector of Police (AR) as per the Proceedings in ROC No.128883/NGB 1/(1)/ 2013 dated 09.01.2014 issued by the first respondent and consequently direct the respondents to follow the seniority in strict sense in the cadre of Sub Inspector of Police for promotion to the post of Inspector of Police.

W.P.(MD) Nos.3816 & 3817 of 2014 from service on 31.08.2017 and Mr.S.Arjun Pandian (writ petitioner in W.P.(MD) No.3817 of 2014) was promoted on 15.07.2016 and retired from service on 31.03.2019.

2. In view of the fact that the writ petitioners were promoted to the Inspector of Police during the pendency of the present writ petitions and retired from service, the grounds raised in the writ petitions deserve no further adjudication. The very relief sought for in the present writ petitions is to forbear the respondents from promoting the juniors. Since the writ petitioners were promoted and retired from service, no further consideration is required and accordingly, the writ petitions stand closed. No costs.
