PRAYER : Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for issuance of a Writ of Certiorarified Mandamus, to call for the records pertaining to the e-mail communication of the 1st respondent dated 21.07.2025 sent to the petitioner to quash the same and consequently, to direct the respondents to preserve and furnish a copy of the CCTV footage to the petitioner recorded at 2nd Bridge, Panagudi, Tirunelveli to Kanyakumari four-way Stretch between 5.00 pm to 6.00 pm on 28.06.2025.

ORDER

The present Writ Petition has been filed for the issuance of a Writ of Certiorarified Mandamus, to quash the e-mail communication of the 1st respondent dated 21.07.2025 sent to the petitioner and consequently, to direct the respondents to preserve and furnish a copy of the CCTV footage to the petitioner recorded at 2nd Bridge, Panagudi, Tirunelveli to Kanyakumari four-way Stretch between 5.00 pm to 6.00 pm on 28.06.2025.

2.The learned Counsel appearing for the 1st respondent submitted that such a CCTV footage would be provided to the Police Officer on written request and not to any individuals. The petitioner is seeking to quash the said communication. When the respondents are following certain procedures, the petitioner cannot seek any relief deviating such procedure. 3.Therefore, the petitioner is directed to submit an application to the concerned Police Station requesting to collect the CCTV footage from the 1st respondent and thereafter, the Police Officials shall collect and furnish the CCTV footage to the petitioner. The said exercise shall be completed within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. However, in the mean time, the 1st respondent shall preserve the said CCTV footage for a period of three months.

4.With the above observations, this Writ Petition is disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs. Consequently, connected Miscellaneous Petitions are closed.
