This Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India seeking for a direction to respondent Nos.1 and 2 Police to consider the representation dated 04.08.2023 and to give adequate police protection for the temple festival of Shri Vembadi Sudalaimada Swamy, Sri Bhrammasakthi and Shri Petchiyamman Temple, Muthu Naicker Street, Thoothukudi, celebrated on 11.09.2023 and 12.09.2023.

2. According to learned counsel for the petitioner, the petitioner and his persons intend to perform the temple festival on 11.09.2023 and 12.09.2023. It is brought to the notice by learned counsel for the petitioner that a civil suit is filed by the third respondent / Senthilmurugan seeking for declaration of his right to perform festival in the temple.

3. Learned Government Advocate (Criminal Side) submits that the respondent Police have no objection, if the petitioner and the rival group conduct the temple festival separately on different dates.

4. In view of the above, the respondent Police are directed to consider the representation of the petitioner, dated 04.08.2023 and dispose of the same as quickly as possible and provide suitable permission by imposing 2/4

conditions as per the guidelines of the Police vide proceedings in Rc.007301/Genl.I (1)/2019, dated 09.04.2019, keeping in view that the temple festival is scheduled on 11.09.2023 and 12.09.2023.
