Respondents PRAYER: Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, to issue a writ of mandamus directing the respondent No.1 to promote the petitioners, who come under Category 3 of Division II (Non-Gazetted Superior Posts) to the post of Sub Assistant Registrar in the existing vacancies and future vacancies leaving aside the respondent No.2 and other Personal Assistants / Senior Private Secretaries / Private Secretaries to the Hon'ble Judges, who come under Category 4 of Division II (Non-Gazetted Superior Posts) in accordance with the Rule 14 of the Madras High Court Service Rules or to promote the petitioners in the ratio of 10:1 i.e. (10 Court Officers : 1 P.A. to Hon'ble Judges) for the post of Sub Assistant Registrars within the time period stipulated by this Court.

O R D E R

[Order of the Court was made by S.M.SUBRAMANIAM, J.] The relief sought for in this writ petition is to direct the first respondent to promote the petitioners, who come under Category 3 of Division II (Non-Gazetted Superior Posts) to the post of Sub Assistant Registrar in the existing vacancies and future vacancies leaving aside the second respondent other Personal Assistants / Senior Private Secretaries / Private Secretaries to the Hon'ble Judges, who come under Category 4 of Division II (Non-Gazetted Superior Posts) in accordance with the Rule 14 of the Madras High Court Service Rules or to promote the petitioners in the ratio of 10:1 i.e. (10 Court Officers : 1 P.A. to Hon'ble Judges) for the post of Sub Assistant Registrars within the time period stipulated by this Court.

2. Today, when the matter was taken up for hearing, learned counsel appearing for the first respondent submitted that after filing of this writ petition, the Service Rules were amended and the ratio between the Court Officers and Personal Assistants to the Hon'ble Judges is fixed at 2:1 in the year 2017.

3. That being the factum, the relief sought for in this writ petition lost its relevance and thus, no further adjudication is required. Accordingly, the writ petition is disposed of. No costs.
