ORDER

Heard the learned counsel on either side.

2.It has been definitively established that the petitioner's mother died due to electrocution. In this regard Crime No.196 of 2013 was registered on the file of Vathalai Police Station. A copy of the post-mortem report has been enclosed. The petitioner's mother was aged around 65 years. During the relevant time, TANGEDCO had policy of paying ex gratia of Rs.2,00,000/- in fatal cases. The occurrence had taken place in October 2013. More than ten years have elapsed. The 2/4

ex gratia should have been paid immediately after the occurrence. Taking into account the interest component, the respondents are directed to pay a total sum of Rs.3,20,000/- to the legal heirs of the deceased Pullatchi. This is shall be done within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. It is seen that Pullatchi had a son and two daughters. The said amount will be divided into three shares and the petitioner shall be paid his 1/3rd share. 3.This writ petition is allowed accordingly.
