PRAYER: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying this Court to issue a Writ of Mandamus, to direct the respondent no.2 to rectify the mistake crept in extent of land in patta issued in favour of petitioners by considering the petitioners' representation dated 07.08.2023 within the reasonable time stipulated by this Court.

The petitioners with a grievance that certain rectifications are required in their patta, which has been issued by the second respondent has filed an application before the Tahsildar, Usilampatti Taluk and filed this writ petition for a Mandamus, to direct the respondents to rectify the mistake crept in the patta issued in favour of these petitioners.
2.The case of the petitioners is that they are having a land to an extent of 70 cents in Nattamangalam Village, Usilampatti Taluk, Madurai by way of a registered sale deed, dated 10.08.1992. However, the patta has been granted by the revenue officials only for 64 cents. The petitioners claim that they are having a valid document to substantiate that they are entitled for 70 cents of land. 3.Mr.M.Sarangan, learned Additional Government Pleader, who takes notice for the respondents submits that the patta has been issued to the petitioners to an extent of 64 cents, as per the available revenue records.

4.Considering the rival submissions made, this writ petition is disposed of with a direction to the petitioners to produce the relevant document before the second respondent within a period of two weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. On receipt of such document, the Tahsildar, Usilampatti Taluk shall consider the same along with other revenue records and take a decision within a period of eight weeks from thereon.
