Prayer : Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying this Court to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the first respondent to consider and dispose expeditiously of the petitioner's Mercy Petition, dated 24.12.2024 on merits in accordance with law, within a time frame fixed by this Court.

ORDER

The present writ petition has been filed by an employee of the TANGEDCO seeking a Mandamus as against the first respondent to consider his Mercy Petition, dated 24.12.2024 and pass orders as expeditiously as possible.

2. According to the learned Counsel appearing for the petitioner, he was issued with a charge memo on 19.06.2023 and after considering his reply, a domestic enquiry was conducted. The petitioner was issued with an order of punishment by the third respondent on 07.05.2024. 2/5

3. The petitioner filed an appeal before the second respondent. The second respondent confirmed the order passed by the third respondent on 20.11.2024. The petitioner has presented a Mercy Petition to the first respondent on 24.12.2024. Thereafter, he has sent a representation on 25.03.2025 to the first respondent for speedy disposal of his Mercy Petition. Since there is no response, the present writ petition has been filed.

4. Heard both sides and perused the materials available on record.

5. Considering the above said facts, the first respondent is directed to consider the Mercy Petition presented by the petitioner on 24.12.2024 and pass orders on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of six (6) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

6. With the above directions, this writ petition stands disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs.
