Heard Mr.S.Sivakumar, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and Mr.G.Suriya Ananth, learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the first respondent.

It is brought to the notice of this Court by learned counsel appearing for the petitioner that subsequent to the filing of this Writ Petition, compulsory retirement punishment has been imposed on the petitioner, which is challenged before the Director General of Police and the same is under consideration. Since the petitioner has been compulsorily retired from service by the orders passed by the official respondents, the question of entertaining this Writ Petition, which has been filed challenging the charge memo, does not arise at this stage.

3. After recording the fact that subsequent to the filing of this Writ Petition, the petitioner has been compulsorily retired from service by orders passed by the official respondents, this Writ Petition is disposed of. However, liberty is granted to the petitioner, if he succeeds in challenging the compulsory 2/4

retirement order, to challenge the impugned charge memo in the manner known to the petitioner under law. No costs. Consequently, the connected miscellaneous petition is closed.
