Prayer: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents 1 to 5 to determine the just and fair compensation payable to the petitioner for acquiring his land in Old Survey No.266/3 and new UDR survey No.271/3, situated at Ariyamangalam Village, Trichy district for laying double railway track (bypass line) and consequently direct the respondents to disburse the compensation payable to the petitioner within a time frame stipulated by this Court. Heard the learned counsel on either side.

2. The prayer in this writ petition is for payment of compensation for having acquired the petition mentioned lands.

3. When the matter was taken up for hearing, the learned Standing Counsel appearing for the Southern Railways clarified that the petition mentioned land has not been acquired. The railway land has been clearly 2/4

demarcated. Since the petitioner's lands have not been touched, the question of paying compensation does not arise.
