Heard both sides.

2. This writ petition has been filed for removing the encroachments in the petition-mentioned water body.

3. It has also been specifically averred that the water channel has been obliterated. The allegation made by the writ petitioner stands confirmed in the status report filed by the respondents. We therefore called upon the District Collector to take further action in the matter.

4. Today when the matter was taken up for hearing, the learned 2/4

3 W.P.(MD)NO.20584 OF 2024 Additional Advocate General produced a copy of the order dated 23.10.2024 issued by the jurisdictional Revenue Divisional Officer, Illuppur suspending the concerned Village Administrative Officer for not taking steps to prevent the illicit quarrying.

5. We direct the respondents to take action already initiated to its logical end. We also direct the official respondents to restore the obliterated water channel. This writ petition stands disposed of accordingly. No costs.
