Heard the learned counsel for the petitioners and the learned Government Advocate (Crl.) for the respondent.
2. This Criminal Original Petition has been filed for directing the respondent to conclude the trial in C.C.No.125 of 2021 on the file of the Judicial Magistrate, Rameshwaram on merits and in accordance with law within three months.
3. The petitioners are Srilankan fishermen. They are presently staying in Special Camp at Trichy. The petitioners are not in a position to return to Srilanka in view of the pendency of the criminal case. Therefore, they pray for the aforesaid direction.
4. When the matter was taken up for hearing, the learned Government Advocate submitted that the next hearing date is 22.11.2021 and that there are nine witnesses. All of them are official witnesses. The learned Government Advocate categorically states that they will not have any difficulty in concluding the matter within three months.
5. Recording the said submission made by the learned Government Advocate, the District Munsif-cum-Judicial Magistrate, Rameshwaram is directed to conclude C.C.No.125 of 2021 on merits and in accordance with law within a period of three months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
