ORDER

By consent of both sides, the writ petition itself is taken up for final disposal at the admission stage itself.

This writ petition has been filed for a mandamus to direct the 1st respondent to conduct enquiry on the petitioners application dated 30.07.2024 for issuance of Death Certificate of his wife Mayilammal and consequently direct the 1st respondent to issue the Death Certificate within a time that may be fixed by this Court.

3. The case of the petitioner is that his wife died on 18.10.2002. Since he is an illiterate, he could not register the death of his wife at that time. While so, on 30.07.2024, when the petitioner made an application to the first respondent for issuance of death certificate as per Rule 9(3) of the Tamil Nadu Registration of Births and Deaths Rules, 2000 and G.O.Ms.No.324 Revenue and Disaster Management Department dated 28.06.2023. However, the said certificate has not been given so far. 2/4

Hence, the petitioner is before this Court.

4. In view of the above, the first respondent is directed to conduct enquiry as per Rule 9(3) of the said Rules and as per G.O.Ms.No.324 dated 28.06.2023, and pass orders on the petitioner's application within a period of two months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

5. The writ petition is disposed of with the above direction. No costs.
