ORDER

The petitioner sought for quashing of the final report in in C.C.No. 159 of 2021 on the file of the learned Judicial Magistrate, Paramakudi, 1/4

for the alleged offences under Sections 498(A), 494, 506(i), 109 IPC and Section 4 of Dowry Prohibition Act.

2. The gist of the allegations is that the petitioner and the second respondent are husband and wife. The petitioner demanded the defacto complainant for additional dowry and the same was refused by the defacto complainant and hence, the petitioner threatened the defacto complainant and also he dropped the defacto complainant in her partental home and thus, committed the aforesaid offence.

3. Admittedly, the petitioner and the second respondent are husband and wife and they have now entered into a compromise and decided to give a quietus to the entire dispute. It is stated that both the petitioner and the defacto complainant have remarried. The parties have filed a joint compromise memo dated 27.02.2026.

4. The petitioner and the second respondent / defacto complainant are present before this Court in person. They are identified by Mr.K.Karthikeyan, SSI, Paramakudi Police Station, Ramanathapuram 2/4

District. All the parties confirmed the compromise arrived at between them.

5. Considering the nature of the offence and the relationship between the parties, this Court is of the view that no useful purpose would be served by keeping the impugned final report pending trial. Accordingly, the impugned final report in C.C.No.159 of 2021 on the file of the learned Judicial Magistrate, Paramakudi, is quashed and the Criminal Original Petition stands allowed. The joint compromise memo dated 27.02.2026 shall form part and parcel of this order. Consequently, connected Miscellaneous Petition is closed.
