PRAYER: Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, to issue a writ of mandamus directing the respondents to constitute "Sub Divisional Level Vigilance and Monitoring Committee"under Rule 17-A of the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Rules in all Revenue Sub Divisions in the State of Tamil Nadu, consequently to direct the respondents 1 and 2 to take action for conduct the meeting of Sub Divisional Level Vigilance and Monitoring Committee once in three month under Rule 17-A(4) of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Rules in the State of Tamil Nadu, within the time stipulated by this Court. [Order of the Court was made by The Hon'ble ACTING CHIEF JUSTICE] Prayer in this writ petition is to direct the respondents to constitute "Sub Divisional Level Vigilance and Monitoring Committee" under Rule 17-A of the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Rules in all Revenue Sub Divisions in the State of Tamil Nadu and to direct the respondents 1 and 2 to take action to conduct meeting of Sub

Divisional Level Vigilance and Monitoring Committee once in three months under Rule 17-A(4) of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Rules in the State of Tamil Nadu, within the time stipulated by this Court.

2. The grievance of the petitioner is that Rule 17-A of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Rules, 1995 mandates constitution of Sub Division Level Vigilance and Monitoring Committee to review the implementation of the provisions of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Act, follow up action was not taken by the State for constitution of such Committees.

3. Today, when the matter is taken up for hearing, learned Government Pleader appearing for the respondents, on instructions, would submit that Sub Divisional Level Vigilance Committees have been constituted in all the Revenue Sub Divisions in the State of Tamil Nadu and the Committees have conducted meetings and also filed annual reports and to that effect, he has also produced a copy of the report indicating the dates of constitution and reconstitution of the committees in all the Districts, before this Court.

4. The above submission of the Government Pleader is recorded.

5. In view of the above submission, no further adjudication is required in this writ petition and the same is, therefore, closed. If the petitioner is still having any grievance, it is open to him to work out his remedies in accordance with law. No costs.
