ORDER

The present writ petition has been filed challenging an order passed by the respondent herein, under which the respondent has rejected the request of the petitioner for cancellation of an already registered document in Document No.2172 of 2011 on the file of Perunazhi Sub Registrar Office, Ramanathapuram District.

2. The said request of the writ petitioner was rejected on the ground that the District Registrar does not have any powers to cancel the already registered documents. When the impugned order was passed, the District Registrar did not have any powers to cancel the already registered documents. Now that, the Registration Act has been amended and Section 77-A has been introduced. The District Registrar has got powers to entertain an application for the cancellation of an already registered documents, if it falls within Section 22-A or 22-B of the Registration Act.

3. In view of the above said facts, the writ petitioner is directed to give fresh representation to the respondent herein and the same may be considered in the light of the amended Registration Act.

4. In view of the above said facts, this Writ Petition stands disposed of. No costs.
