This Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India seeking for a direction to the respondent police to permit the petitioner to conduct the Aadal Paadal programme on 20.08.2023 from 07.00 pm to 11.00 pm in Sri Vilvamarathu Pathala Karuppu Temple at Chithamparam nagar, Viralimanali village, Pudukkottai District. 2.It is submitted by the learned counsel for the petitioner that every year, the villagers have been conducting the programme of Light Music and Folk Dance (Aadal Paadal) in Sri Vilvamarathu Pathala Karuppu temple and this year also, the village elders intended to conduct the cultural programme including Aadal Paadal on 20.08.2023 from 07.00 pm., to 11.00 pm., It is submitted further that last year also, they have 2/5

conducted the similar programme without any untoward incident. However, the police without assigning any valid reason has declined to grant the permission to conduct the cultural programme for this year. 3.The learned Government Advocate (Crl.side) while admitting the fact that last year, there was no untoward incident has taken place while conducting the programme has submitted that in case if fresh representation is filed by the petitioner, the police will certainly consider and grant the permission by imposing suitable conditions. 4.Accordingly, this Writ Petition is disposed of directing the petitioner to file fresh application, on which the respondent police are directed to consider the same and grant the permission for conducting the Aadal Paadal programme on 20.08.2023 from 07.00 pm to 10.00 pm alone. No costs. Consequently, connected Miscellaneous Petition is closed.
