Prayer: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying this Court to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents herein to issue separate two bills and allow for payment of each bill separately by lifting bill merging in respect of the petitioners house property in EB Service Connection Nos.05-007-209-552 and 05-007-209-1466 situated at 1st floor, Door No.5, Plot No.13/14 Arul Malar Convent School Street, K.K. Nagar, Madurai 625 020 by considering the petitioner's representations dated 10.07.2025 and 21.07.2025 in accordance with law within the time stipulated by this Court.

ORDER

This writ petition has been filed for a Mandamus to direct the respondents herein to issue separate two bills and allow for payment of each bill separately by lifting bill merging in respect of the petitioner's house property in EB Service Connection Nos.05-007-209-552 and 05-007-209-1466 situated at 1st floor, Door No.5, Plot No.13/14 Arul Malar Convent School Street, K.K.Nagar, Madurai 625 020 by considering the petitioner's representations dated 10.07.2025 and 21.07.2025. 2/5

2. The petitioner is already having two electricity connections, which have been merged. It is submitted that the petitioner is the house owner and she has rented out the property to one P.Mahendran, who is the practising Advocate before this Court. It is submitted that since the petitioner has rented out a portion of the house, the said connection be restored.

3. The learned counsel for the petitioner at this stage submits that the electricity service connection Nos.05-007-209-552 and 05-007-209-1466 may be accorded subject to prevailing norms.

4. The learned Standing counsel for the respondents submits that the property will be inspected and a new connection will be accorded. A new commercial connection will be granted, if the extent of the property is above 200 square feet. Otherwise residential connection will be restored.

5. The writ petition stands disposed of in view of the above submission of the learned Standing Counsel for the respondents. This exercise shall be carried out by the respondents without imposing any penalty on the petitioner. No costs.
