Prayer : Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying this Court to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondent to dispose the appeal filed by the petitioner on 02.03.2015, as against the order of the District Revenue Officer/Additional District Magistrate, Thoothukudi, within stipulated time.

ORDER

The Writ Petition has been filed in the nature of Mandamus, seeking a direction against the respondent/Additional Principal Secretary/Commissioner of Revenue Administration, Chennai, to dispose of an appeal by the petitioner filed on 02.03.2015. 2.The said appeal had been filed questioning rejection of gun license by the District Revenue Officer/Additional District Magistrate, Thoothukudi. In the affidavit filed in support of the Writ petition, it had been stated that the petitioner had applied for gun license before the District Revenue Officer/Additional District Magistrate, Thoothukudi on 13.05.2014. The District Forest Officer recommended for issuance of license, the Superintendent of Police however objected for issuance of license. The Tahsildar recommended for issuence of license. On considering all the reports, the District Revenue Officer/Additional District Magistrate, Thoothukudi, rejected the application vide order dated https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/ 1/2

W.P(MD)No.21010 of 2021 11.02.2015. Questioning that particular order and the reasons given therein, the petitioner had filed an appeal before the respondent/Additional Principal Secretary/Commissioner of Revenue Administration, Chennai.

3.This Writ Petition has been filed, seeking a Mandamus for disposal of the said appeal which according to the petitioner is pending from 02.03.2015.

4.Heard the learned Counsel for the petitioner and also the learned Additional Government Pleader.

5.In view of the fact stated above, a direction is given to the respondent to dispose of the appeal within a period of twelve weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. 6.If for some reason the respondent is not able to dispose of the appeal within a period of twelve weeks, either owing to administrative reasons or owing to co-operation not extended by the petitioner an additional four weeks is granted for disposal of the appeal. At any rate, the appeal must be disposed of within a period of sixteen weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. 7.With the above direction, this Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs.
