PRAYER: Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, to issue a Writ of Mandamus directing the Respondent No.6, to reimburse the medical expenses incurred by the Petitioner for the Petitioner's and the Petitioner's wife's COVID-19, treatment to a tune of Rs.5,50,000/- with proportionate interest by considering the Petitioner's representation dated 10.02.2021, within the time limit stipulated by this Court. ORDER

The present Writ Petition has been filed by a pensioner seeking a mandamus as against the 6th respondent to consider his request for the reimbursement of the medical expenses incurred during Covid-19 treatment. 2/4

2.According to the learned Counsel appearing for the writ petitioner, the Joint Director, Medical and Rural Health Services, Virudhunagar District, has recommended the same to the Treasury Officer, Virudhunagar District, in August 2021, touching upon the claim made by the writ petitioner and his wife. According to him, a communication was addressed by the 6th respondent on 24.01.2025, seeking certain documents. Those documents were submitted by him on 03.07.2025. Since, there is no response, the present Writ Petition has been filed.

3.Considering the above said facts, the 6th respondent herein is directed to consider the claim made by the writ petitioner and release the eligible medical reimbursement to the writ petitioner within a period of 8 (eight) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

4.With the above said observations, this Writ Petition stands disposed of. No costs.
