ORDER
The present writ petition has been filed to direct the respondent to reissue the passport in P339504 of the petitioner with father name change 1/4
in Surname as "Mukkaiah Chettiar" instead of "Mariappan" by considering the application of the petitioner dated 25.06.2024 in ARN:24-1007528239.
2. Heard, M/s.P.Jessi Jeeva Priya, learned counsel for the petitioner, Mr.G.Thalaimutharasu, learned counsel for the respondent and carefully perused the materials available on record.
3. For the purpose of going to a foreign tour, the petitioner has made an application for passport and the same was issued on 17.05.2006 in F8120769 and further renewed on 30.08.2016 in passport No.P3395074 which is valid up to 29.08.2026. However, after reissuance, the petitioner understood that in the place of surname, his father's name has been mistakenly mentioned as "Mariappan" instead of "Mukkaiah Chettiyar". Hence, the petitioner applied to re-issue the passport for the purpose of correcting his surname by application dated 25.06.2024 with relevant documents and attended the enquiry called for by the respondent on 25.06.2024. However, so far his application is not considered. Hence, this writ petition came to be filed.

4. Considering the simple nature of the relief sought for herein, this Court hereby direct the respondents to dispose of the application made by the petitioner dated 25.06.2024 in application No. ARN:24-1007528239 within a period of four (4) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
