O R D E R
This Criminal Original Petition has been filed seeking to quash the final report in C.C.No.1255 of 2024, on the file of the learned Judicial Magistrate No.V, Madurai, filed against the petitioners for the offences punishable under Sections 294(b), 323, 324, 506(1) and 109 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860.
2. The allegation in the final report is that, due to a matrimonial dispute between the first petitioner and the son of the second respondent/defacto complainant, the first and second petitioners, at the instigation of the third and fourth petitioners, came to the house of the second respondent/defacto complainant, abused the second respondent/defacto complainant and her husband, and attacked them with bricks and hands, and thus committed the aforesaid offences.
3. Admittedly, the petitioners and the second respondent/defacto complainant are relatives, and there was a matrimonial dispute between Page No. 2 of 8
the first petitioner and the son of the second respondent/defacto complainant. The parties have now entered into a compromise and decided to give a quietus to the entire dispute. The parties have filed a joint compromise memo dated 07th October, 2025. The scanned copy of the compromise memo reads as follows:

The petitioners, namely, (1) Nandhini [Aadhaar No.5776 6024 2926], (2) Sathyabama [Aadhaar No.5565 7350 4919], (3) Madasamy [Aadhaar No.5345 2411 2258] and (4) Dhandapandi @ Samy [Aadhaar No.7271 0255 0254] and the second respondent/defacto complainant, namely, Panchavarnam [Aadhaar No.7510 1471 6589] and the second respondent/defacto complainant's husband/victim are present before this Court in person. The parties are identified by Mr.M.Kannan, SubInspector of Police, Oomachikulam Police Station, Madurai District. All the parties confirmed the compromise arrived at between them. The second respondent/defacto complainant stated that she does not wish to pursue the case against the petitioners.

In view of the same and considering the nature of the offences and the relationship between the parties, this Court is of the view that no useful purpose would be served by keeping the impugned final report pending trial. Accordingly, the impugned final report in C.C.No.1255 of 2024, on the file of the learned Judicial Magistrate No.V, Madurai, is quashed. The petitioners shall pay a sum of Rs.5,000/- as costs to the Mediation and Conciliation Centre attached to the Madurai Bench of Madras High Court forthwith and file a photocopy of the receipt along with a memo reporting compliance in the Registry.
