O R D E R

This writ petition has been filed seeking for a mandamus, directing the respondents 1 to 5 to construct the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme Village Panchayat Service Centres at Kambur Village, Melur Taluk, Madurai District.

2. Today, when the matter is taken up for hearing, the learned Special Government Pleader, on instruction would submit that a permission

for was sanctioned for construction of the Service Centre as per the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee scheme. Since there was no land available in the Kambur Village, a difference place was identified and preliminary works were started. As this writ petition has been filed by the petitioner with an averment to provide land for construction of such Service Centre and no progress was also made in the alternative place. Further, since the period of scheme was over, the sanctioned amount for construction of the Service Centre had been taken back by the Government and hence, it would not be feasible to make such construction now.

3. In view of the specific statement made by the learned Special Government Pleader, no further adjudication is required to be made in this writ petition. Accordingly, this writ petitions stands closed. There shall be no order as to costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed.
