O R D E R

Heard Mr.S.Mahesh Babu, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and Mr.M.Karunanithi, learned Standing Counsel, who takes notice on behalf of sole respondent.

2.The petitioner already has a passport. In the said passport, the name of his mother is given as Safiya. The petitioner claims that the actual name of his mother is Sabiya. It is also stated by the learned counsel for the petitioner that to prove his date of birth, he has in his possession the 10th standard mark sheet of Secondary School Leaving Certificate, which had been issued under the authority of the Government of Tamil Nadu, in which, the date of birth of the petitioner is given as 27.05.1975. The present petition has been filed in the nature of Mandamus, seeking a direction to the respondent to consider the representation of the petitioner, dated 11.06.2021 and issue passport to the petitioner herein. The petitioner has applied for renewal of the existing passport.

3.Let the petitioner approach the office of the respondent either on 21.12.2021/22.12.2021 or 23.12.2021. In this regard, let him give an advance representation to the respondent along with the copy of this particular order. When he is granted an https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/ 1/2

W.P.(MD) No.21292 of 2021 opportunity of personal interview, let the petitioner produce relevant documents with respect to the name of his mother/Sabiya and also produce his 10th standard certificate for proof of his date of birth and also any other certificate. On examining the records of the petitioner, a direction is given to the respondent/Regional Passport Officer, Regional Passport Office, Bharathi Ula Veethi, Race Course Road, Madurai-625 002, to do the necessary needful without any delay, within a period of three weeks from the date of such personal examination of the petitioner and the documents presented by the petitioner. 4.With the above observations, the Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs.
