This petition is filed by the wife of one Sirumani Raj, retired Railway employee, alleging that her complaint about missing of her husband since 28.06.2021 not been acted upon by the police and hence to issue a Writ of Habeas Corpus to bring the body of her husband Sirumani Raj, aged 81 years.
2. This matter being under consideration for quite sometime, a detailed status report been filed by the second respondent police stating that all necessary steps been taken to trace the missing man, a retired Railway employee, by placing paper publications and a search team. However, till
date, his whereabouts could not be ascertained. Though he is a pensioner, his bank account has become stale and enquiry indicates that at the time of missing, the person was not keeping good mental state of mind. Places like De-addiction Centre, Mental Health Centre, Old Age Home in various places in and around Virudhunagar, Kovilpatti and Sivakasi area enquired, but of no result. Police has formed a special team and making all efforts to trace the missing man. As and when they get any breakthrough in their search, same will be informed to the petitioner.
3. This Court, taking note of the contend of the Status Report and the steps taken by the respondent police, close this Habeas Corpus Petition with a direction to continue the search and inform the petitioner as and when any breakthrough happens in the investigation.
