2. The learned Additional Public Prosecutor for the first and second respondents would submit that there is a civil dispute between the parties, i.e., the petitioners and the third respondents herein and others, and that this Court, by an interim order dated 18.08.2025 in these Writ Petitions, had directed the parties to appear before the Mediation Centre to explore the possibility of settlement, but the mediation has failed.

3. It is seen that one Ganapathi, the petitioner in W.P.Crl.(MD) No. 872 of 2025, and the rival party, S.Muthu Ganesh, the petitioner in W.P.Crl.(MD) No.974 of 2025, have filed these Writ Petitions seeking the very same relief. In view of the dispute between the two petitioners, which Page No. 3 of 5

has to be resolved only by the civil court, the police cannot interfere and grant protection. Therefore, this Court is not inclined to issue any direction to the first and second respondents to provide police protection as prayed for in these Writ Petitions.
