Respondents Prayer: Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying for issuance of Writ of Mandamus, directing the 1st respondent, viz., the District Revenue Officer, Madurai, to exercise his suo-motu revisional powers under the Tamil Nadu Patta Pass Book Act, based on the representation submitted by the petitioner on 23.08.2024 and pass appropriate order within a time frame as fixed by this Court.

ORDER
The petitioner has approached this Court seeking a mandamus to the 1st respondent to exercise his suo-motu revisional powers under the Tamil Nadu Patta Pass Book Act, based on the petitioner's representation, dated 23.08.2024.
2. The petitioner had purchased the property comprised in Old Survey No.50/2 (UDR Survey No.1/2) and Old Survey No.50/8 (UDR Survey No.1/8) measuring an extent of 1 acre 72 cents from one Saravana Kumar under a registered sale deed, dated 07.09.2022. This property originally belonged to late.Natarajan, who is none else than the grand-father of the petitioner's vendor. He had died on 19.04.2011 leaving behind his wife Ramu Ammal and a daughter Meenatchi. Ramu Ammal and Meenatchi got the property mutated in their names. The said Meenatchi executed a settlement in favour of her daughter Muthukumari
on 19.01.2016. One Ganapathy s/o Suryapillai who is the brother of the petitioner's vendor's grand-father had requested the patta to be transferred in the name of Nataraja Bajanai Mutt Trust. On the basis of his application and without going into the merits of the case, the Deputy Tahsidlar, Madurai East ordered for change the name in the patta.. The petitioner's vendor had filed an appeal before the 1st respondent on 04.11.2022. However, the same has yet to be disposed off. The petitioner has also submitted a detailed representation on 23.08.2024. However, there was no further action taken by the 1st respondent. Therefore, the petitioner is before this Court.
3. Heard the learned counsel on either side.
4. Taking into account the fact that the appeal had been filed on 04.11.2022 and a reminder had also been sent on 23.08.2024, a mandamus is issued to the 1st respondent to consider the petitioner's representation and pass orders within a period of two (2) months from the date of receipt of copy of this order.
5. With the above directions, this Writ Petition stands allowed. No costs.
