COMMON ORDER These petitions have been filed seeking police protection for conducting a temple festival and other programmes.
2. The learned Additional Public Prosecutor submitted that there are two rival groups in the village and, therefore, permission was not granted.
3. Considering the submissions of the learned Additional Public Prosecutor, this Court ordered issuance of notice to the private respondents, who have now appeared before this Court.
4. Upon considering the rival submissions, this Court referred the matter to the Mediation Centre attached to this Court and appointed Mrs. V. Moushica, learned counsel, as mediator. It appears that, through the earnest efforts of the mediator, the dispute between the petitioners and the private respondents has been amicably resolved, and a report to that effect has been filed before this Court. 4/7
5. The learned counsel for the petitioners as well as for the private respondents have confirmed the terms of the settlement. This Court places its appreciation for the efforts taken by the mediator and the learned counsel on either side.
6. In view of the above, these petitions are closed with a direction to the respondent police to permit the petitioners to conduct the temple festival and the consequential programmes by imposing the usual conditions, and to ensure that the same are conducted in a peaceful manner without any untoward incident. The mediation report shall form part of these cases. No costs.
