Prayer: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying this Court to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the first respondent to grant suitable compensation for the illegal occupation and encroachment made in the form of crematorium in the petitioner's property in Survey No.164/1 an extent of 7.00 Acre in Joint Patta No.244 in Nalatinputhur Revenue Village, Kovilpatti Taluk, Tuticorin District or provide alternative site by considering her representation dated 01.07.2025, within the period as stipulated by this Court.

ORDER
This writ petition has been filed for a writ of Mandamus to direct the first respondent to grant suitable compensation for the illegal occupation and encroachment made in the form of crematorium in the petitioner's property or provide alternative site by considering her representation dated 01.07.2025.
2. The petitioner claims to be the owner of land measuring an extent of 7 acres in S.No.164/1, in respect of which Joint Patta No.244 has been issued to the petitioner along with four others. It is submitted that the land has been allowed to be used as a grave yard/crematorium by the third respondent. The petitioner submitted a representation on 01.07.2025 to the respondents. However, it has not evoked any response.
3. Having considered the submissions advanced by the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned counsel for the respondents, I am inclined to 2/4
direct the first respondent to consider the petitioner's representation dated 01.07.2025 strictly in accordance with the provisions of the Tamil Nadu Village Panchayats (Provision of Burial and Burning Grounds) Rules,1999, within a period of 12 weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
4. The writ petition stands disposed of with the above direction. No costs.
