ORDER

The petitioner, who has been assigned land measuring 08.08.0 ares in S.No.337/26 at North Illayathankudi Group, Keeranipatti Village, Thiruppathur Block, Sivagangai District over which she has been cultivating, had requested the respondents to issue patta in her name.

2. Initially she was informed that since it was assignment patta, it would not be immediately given. Therefore, the petitioner had waited and since there was no progress, she had made a representation on 24.06.2023 with all requisite documents requesting respondents 1 and 2 to issue patta in her favour in respect of the aforesaid lands. After

receiving the representation, the first respondent on 08.06.2023 has directed the second respondent to take necessary action and inform the same to the first respondent's office. The second respondent had thereafter called upon the petitioner to submit all the records relating to the land, which she had also submitted. Thereafter, there has been no action and her application for patta has gone into oblivion. Therefore, the present writ petition.

3. Heard the learned counsel on either side.

4. Considering the fact that the petitioner had made her representation on 25.04.2024 for grant of patta in respect of the lands, which have been assigned in her favour by the respondents and pursuant to which the second respondent was directed to submit a report on 08.06.2023, a mandamus is issued to the second respondent to consider the petitioner's application and pass orders. If the request for patta is to be rejected, a speaking order shall be passed within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order
