Heard both sides.

2. The writ petitioner's wife Rakku died due to electrocution on 23.05.2018. In this regard, crime No.31 of 2018 was registered on the file of Palayanur police station under Section 174 CrPC. The petitioner's wife had come in contact with a snapped live wire. The petitioner's wife cannot be charged with any negligence. Therefore, TANGEDCO has to assume the responsibility. Vide (Per.) (FB) TANGEDCO Proceedings No.6 dated 16.10.2019, the ex-gratia payment payable was enhanced to Rs.5,00,000/-. The TANGEDCO 2/4

3 W.P.(MD)NO.17013 OF 2018 can as well be directed to pay the said amount. The petitioner is said to have suffered an accident and it appears that he is not able to engage in normal avocation. Both the daughters had already got married. They have not come before this Court seeking any claim. The third respondent, on being satisfied about the identity of the writ petitioner that he is the husband of the deceased Rakku, shall pay a sum of Rs.5 Lakhs (Rupees Five Lakhs only) directly to the writ petitioner within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. It shall not carry any interest. Granting liberty to the petitioner to move the jurisdictional civil Court for claiming any enhanced compensation, this writ petition stands allowed on these terms. No costs.
