ORDER
This writ petition has been filed for a direction to the respondents to provide marks to the petitioner under the PSTM category in the common recruitment for the posts of Gr.II Police Constable, Gr.II Jail Warden and Fireman 2020. 2.The petitioner has taken part in the Common Recruitment for the Posts of Gr.II Police Constable, Gr.II Jail Warder and Fireman, 2020 by applying under the Persons Studied in Tamil Medium [PSTM] Category. He has not been selected, as he has 1/3
secured 74 marks against the cut off marks of 74.5 under BC PSTM category.
3.The learned Counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner has scored 74 marks against the cut off marks of 74.5 and if the respondents provide mark under the PSTM category, he would be entitled for appointment.
4.The learned Additional Advocate General appearing for the respondents submitted that the petitioner has applied under the BC PSTM category and he has secured 62 marks in the written examination and 12 marks in the physical endurance test, in total, he has secured 74 marks. The cut off marks under the BC PSTM category is 74.5 marks. Since the petitioner is not falling under the zone of consideration, he was not selected.
5.This Court has paid its anxious consideration to the rival submissions and perused the materials placed on record. 6.The petitioner has appeared in the selection process for appointment to the post of Gr.II Police Constable, Gr.II Jail Warder and Fireman, 2020 and he has applied under BC PSTM category. According to the learned Additional Advocate General the cut off mark under the BC PSTM category is 74.5 marks, whereas the petitioner has scored 62 marks in the written test and 12 marks in physical endurance test and in total he has obtained 74 marks only. Further, PSTM category is a reservation category and no additional or special mark is awarded for the same.The petitioner was very much considered only under the PSTM category and he has not reached the zone of consideration. Therefore, this Court is not inclined to entertain this writ petition.
7.In the result, this writ petition is dismissed. No costs. Consequently connected miscellaneous petition is also dismissed.
