ORDER

The present Writ Petition has been filed for the issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, to direct the respondents to permit the petitioners and other village people to participate in the festival of Sri Santhanamaman Thirukovil Mulaipari at Kilakuvalasai, Pampan village, Ramanathapuram District, scheduled to be held on 08.08.2025 to 13.08.2025 by conducting peace committee meeting.

2. The learned Counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that respondents 4 and 5 are refusing to collect temple vari from the petitioners and are also preventing them from participating in the festival.

3. The learned Additional Government Pleader, on instructions from the Revenue Inspector, submitted that respondents 4 and 5 are not preventing the petitioners from participating in the festival. However, the Revenue Inspector is not having any instructions regarding the collection of the temple vari. 2/5

4. In view of the above, this Court is directing the respondents 4 and 5 to permit the petitioners to participate in the temple festival, which has commenced today. As far as the collection of temple vari is concerned, the third respondent shall conduct an enquiry, after issuing notice to the petitioners as well as the respondents 4 and 5 and pass appropriate orders on or before 10.08.2025. The parties shall strictly adhere to the outcome of the said enquiry.

5. With the above said directions, this Writ Petition is disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs.
