Prayer : Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying this Court to issue a Writ of Mandamus, to direct the Respondents to grant suitable compensation benefits to the petitioner for the reason of the petitioners husband died due to met with electric wire accident at near his nanjai field on 24.06.2013.

None appears for the petitioner.

2. The petitioner's husband Singamuthu died on 24.06.2013 due to electrocution. In this regard, Crime No.192 of 2018 was registered on the file of the Sivagiri Police Station. The petitioner's husband had come in contact with a snapped live wire and that is how, he died. He cannot be imputed with any negligence. Therefore, TANGEDCO has to take the entire responsibility.

3. Let me not go into the merits of the matter. TANGEDCO has a policy of paying Rs.5,00,000/- even if they are not at fault. The jurisdictional Superintending Engineer, Distribution Circle, Tirunelveli is directed to pay a sum of Rs.5,00,000/- to the writ petitioner within a period of 8 weeks from the 2/4

date of receipt of a copy of this order. The petitioner is also given liberty to move the jurisdictional civil Court for claiming enhanced compensation. The Writ Petition is allowed on these terms. No costs. 03.11.2025 Index : Yes / No Internet : Yes/ No rmi 3/4
