This writ petition has been filed for a direction to the respondents to provide police protection to the petitioner with an escort based on the representation made by the petitioner on 08.07.2023. 2.Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner, the learned Government Advocate appearing on behalf of the first respondent and the learned Government Advocate (Crl. Side) appearing on behalf of the second respondent.
3.It is seen from records that the petitioner has earlier approached this Court in the year 2015 and this Court disposed of the writ petition by issuing some directions. From the year 2015 till date, nothing untoward has happened to the petitioner and that by itself shows 2/5
that the so called life threat faced by the petitioner is imaginary. The police protection cannot be given for mere asking and no one should get an impression that having a personal security officer will enhance the status of the person.
4.This Court is not convinced with the request made by the petitioner and that apart, it is also seen that there are ten previous cases against the petitioner, out of which in three cases, it is in the stage of trial and in two cases, the investigation has been completed and the final report has not been taken on file. If police protection is granted to persons with this background, it will give a wrong impression to the society 5.This writ petition stands dismissed accordingly. 06.12.2024 NCC :
