ORDER

The Petitioner has filed the above Writ Petition to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the Respondents to give permission to conduct Pongal Festival in the month of Iyppasi on 22.10.2022 in connection with Arulmighu Sri Kulandai Vinayakar Temple at Keelaiyur (Therkupatti Natham), Kulavaipatti Post, Alangudi Taluk, Pudukkottai District.

2.The learned Government Advocate(Crl.Side) takes notice for the Respondents. By consent, the Writ Petition itself is taken up for final disposal. 3.Heard the learned Counsel for the Petitioner and the learned Government Advocate(Crl.Side) appearing for the Respondents. 2/6

4.The learned Counsel appearing for the Petitioner would submit that as the aforesaid festival is celebrated in a peaceful manner by the villagers, there will be no untoward incident on account of this celebration. 5.The learned Government Advocate(Crl.Side) appearing for the Respondents objected to consider the petition stating that there had been rival groups with regard to the temple festival. The festival will be usually conducted on 05.09.2022, since there was group clash peace committee meeting was convened by the Tahsidhar, Alangudi Taluk. He further submitted that in the peace committee meeting one party attended and other party not attended.

Considering the submission of the learned Counsel for the Petitioner and the objection of the learned Government Advocate(Crl.Side), the District Collector, Pudukottai District and the Tahsidhar, Alangudi Taluk are suo motu impleaded as Respondents 1 and 2, considering the subject matter of the adjudication.

In the light of the above, the first and second Respondents are directed to consider the representation only if both the parties arrive at amicable settlement in the peace talk conducted by the District Collector, Pudukottai and the Tahsildhar, Alangudi and dispose the same. The District Collector in consultation with the Superintendent of Police, Pudukottai District may pass appropriate orders on or before 19.10.2022

8. With the above direction, the Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs. 12.10.2022 Index : Yes / No Internet : Yes / No aav Note: Issue Order Copy on 12.10.2022.
