ORDER

The petitioner sought permission to conduct a cultural programme during the temple festival, which was rejected by the respondent police on account of the petitioner's antecedents. Aggrieved by the order of rejection dated 06.08.2025, the petitioner has filed the present petition.

2. The learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the request was made solely for conducting a cultural programme during the temple festival, and that there was no necessity for the respondent police to refer to the petitioner's criminal antecedents.

3. The learned Additional Public Prosecutor would submit that the petitioner is a notorious criminal and is having 9 cases to his credit. The details of the cases pending against the petitioner is also produced before this court.

5. The petitioner sought permission to conduct a cultural programme. However, in view of the petitioner's antecedents, the respondent police apprehend that granting such permission may lead to a law-and-order problem. This Court finds the apprehension of the respondent police to be justified.
