PRAYER: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying this Court to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to give permission to conduct variety show on 22.08.2025 at about 8.00 p.m to 12.00 p.m subsequent to the Kodai festival to Arulmigu Allalkatha Ayyanar Sri Muthurakku Swamy Temple, situated at Poolam Village, Moondradaipu Post, Nanguneri Taluk, Tirunelveli District, by considering the petitioner's representation, dated 02.08.2025.

O R D E R

Seeking permission to conduct variety show on 22.08.2025 from 8.00 p.m to 12.00 p.m, on account of Kodai festival of Arulmigu Allalkatha Ayyanar Sri Muthurakku Swamy Temple, Poolam Village, Tirunelveli, the petitioner has approached this Court.

2.Mr.E.Antony Sahaya Prabahar, learned Additional Public Prosecutor, who takes notice for the respondents submits that they are concerned about the request of this petitioner with regard to the timings of the event that they would extend the programme upto midnight. Apprehending law and order problem, they have not granted permission to the petitioner.

3.The learned counsel for the petitioner submits that all the villages are participating in the program and it is an event, which has been conducted once in 10 years. Therefore, the learned counsel insisted that the permission may be granted atleast upto 11:00 p.m. 2/4

4. Considering the rival submissions made and in order to maintain law and order, this writ petition is disposed of with a direction to the respondent police to grant permission to the petitioner, with reasonable conditions and regulations to conduct the event on 22.08.2025, till 11.00 p.m, in a peaceful manner. The petitioner is directed to adhere the timings of the event strictly. No costs.
