PRAYER: Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to take appropriate action against the 8th respondent and others for conducting illegal and unauthorized sand quarrying activities in the Kavery River at Thotakurichi Village, Manmangalam Taluk, Karur District.

ORDER

(Order of the Court was made by S.M.SUBRAMANIAM, J.) With reference to the relief sought for in the present Writ Petition, the learned Government Pleader appearing for the respondents 1 to 5 and 7 would submit that illegal sand quarrying operations are completely stopped and if any illegal sand quarrying is identified, criminal actions will be initiated. 2/4

2.That being so, the petitioner or any person is at liberty to give a complaint, in the event of illegal sand quarrying operations and in such circumstances, the authorities competent are bound to initiate all appropriate actions against the offenders in the manner known to law. 3.With the above observation, this Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed.
