PRAYER : Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, directing the second respondent to consider the petitioner`s representation dated 30.06.2025, and further direct the Respondents to rectify the long-standing pay anomaly that has significantly disadvantaged of the petitioner throughout his service and post-retirement period by fixing pay on par with his junior, N. Nedumaran, and consequently revise the petitioner pension and all other terminal benefits in accordance with the rectified pay.

This writ petition has been filed for issuance of a writ of Mandamus, directing the second respondent to consider the petitioner's representation dated 30.06.2025 and further direct the respondents to rectify the long-standing pay anomaly that has significantly disadvantaged of the petitioner throughout his service and post-retirement period by fixing pay on par with his junior, N. Nedumaran and consequently, revise the petitioner's pension and all other terminal benefits in accordance with the rectified pay. 2/6

2.Heard the learned counsel for the parties. By consent of both parties, the Writ Petition is taken up for final disposal at the admission stage itself.

3. The learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner was appointed as a Junior Inspector on 06.12.1985 and retired on 31.05.2017. The grievance of the petitioner is that a long-standing pay anomaly has significantly disadvantaged him throughout his service and post-retirement period, as his pay was not fixed on par with his junior, N.Nedumaran, who has consistently drawn a higher salary despite the petitioner's seniority. In this regard, the petitioner submitted a representation dated 30.06.2025 to the respondents. As no action was taken on the said representation, the petitioner has filed the present writ petition. 4.Learned counsel for the petitioner would further submit that the petitioner would be satisfied if a direction is issued to the second respondent to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 30.06.2025 and pass appropriate orders thereon, within a time frame to be fixed by this Court. 3/6

5.Considering the above facts and circumstances, without going into the merits of the case, this Writ Petition is disposed of with a direction to the second respondent, to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 30.06.2025 and pass appropriate orders in accordance with law. Such exercise shall be completed as expeditiously as possible, preferably within a period of six

(6) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. It is also made clear that this Court has not expressed any of its views with regard to the merits of the matter and that it is open to the second respondent to consider the same on its own merits. No costs.
