ORDER

Heard the learned counsel for the writ petitioner, the learned Special Government Pleader for the respondents 1 and 2, the learned senior counsel for the respondent college and the learned standing counsel for the sixth respondent. Though the seventh respondent has been served and her name is printed in the cause list, she has not chosen to enter appearance. 2.The writ petitioner is presently working as Associate Professor in the Tamil Department in American College. It is not in dispute that the writ petitioner is senior to the seventh respondent. However, the seventh respondent has been designated as Head of Department of Tamil. Aggrieved by the same, this writ petition has been filed.

3.When the matter was taken up for hearing, the learned senior counsel for the college fairly submitted that as per G.O.(Ms)No.1785, Education Department, dated 05.12.1988, the petitioner's case will be considered in the next governing council meeting. He assured the Court that the said meeting will be convened as expeditiously as possible in any event within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. He indicated that the 3/6

petitioner will be formally designated as Head of Department of Tamil. 4.Recording the said submission, the writ petition is disposed of. No costs.
