(*)Prayer amended vide Court Order dated 13/06/17 in WMP(MD)2417/17) ORDER : This petition coming on for orders upon perusing the petition and the affidavit filed in support thereof and upon hearing the arguments of MR.T.ANTONY ARULRAJ, Advocate for the petitioner and of MR.ISAAC MOHANLAL, Standing Counsel for R4 and MR.V.MAHARAJAN, Advocate for R1 to R3, the court made the following order:-
(Order of the Court was made by M.SATHYANARAYANAN,J) The matter in issue pertains to the alleged irregular appointments made to various teaching posts in Madurai Kamaraj University in violation of University Grants Commission's norms and regulations.
2. This Court, vide order dated 23.02.2018, has directed the University Grants Commission to file status report as to the said aspect and thereafter, the matter has been adjourned to three or four times, however, the response from the University Grants Commission is still awaited.
3. The learned Counsel appearing for the petitioner would submit that the main typed set of documents contains the committee report of the retired Justice A.Raman as well as the status report dated 18.03.2015, filed by the Inspector of Police, Vigilance and Anticorruption Act, to find out the said fact.
4. The learned Standing Counsel appearing for the University Grants Commission prays for final opportunity to come out with necessary and proper instructions.
5. Mr.Isaac Mohanlal, learned Standing Counsel appearing for the Madurai Kamaraj University, on instructions, would submit that the said exercise is being carried out by the Madurai Kamaraj University and also seeks time to come out with response.
6. In the light of the plea made by the learned Standing Counsel appearing for the University Grants Commission, call on 16.07.2019 finally, for filing status report of the University Grants Commission, failing which, the Secretary, University Grants Commission, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, New Delhi - 110 002, shall personally remain present before this Court for rendering assistance to this Court.
